HISTORY
I started my wood turning business in 1992 after spending four years doing my apprenticeship as a hobby turner in my shed at the bottom of the garden.
My business has evolved over the years. I first started trading as Tom's Turning Point. In 1997 I took on a partner and formed Admiral Woodturning Ltd, employing four people, also working for Hapfo Pollards demonstrating its copy lathes, also running wood turning forums from my workshop on the AP 5000 up to their CNC range and the WEMA MINMAT 65. During this time I invented the extended jaws for long milling which I had made by Clive Asher, (brilliant local engineer).
For those of you who have visited Hapfo Pollards website, you will have read my test on the Boully Cutters.
In 1998 I went to work for Richard Burbidge to help establish their Designer range. A company which I hold in high esteem.
Then in 2000 I was approached by WEMA to work along side its team to help with the sales of the new Joker range of copy lathes, with responsibility of setting up new machines and training the operators. This has taken me all over the world meeting some wonderful people.
At the same time re-establishing my own woodturning business I now work on my own, from a converted farm building at Yeaton Pevery, Nr Shrewsbury, Shropshire with my beloved local Radio Shropshire for company! The picture below shows me with Colin Young of BBC Radio Shropshire.
