About us

Welcome to my world of wood turning.

Some of you will have met me at Woodmex and Inter-build at the NEC Birmingham or perhaps Ligna and Nerumburg in Germany demonstrating wood turning lathes for Hapfo and in later years for WEMA.

I still work with WEMA on its sales team and do the installation and training for anyone purchasing one of their wide range of high quality wood turning machines from a basic hydraulic copy lathe to the amazing CNC7000.

As you can see from my gallery I use what I can only describe as the Rolls Royce of hydraulic copy lathes, The Joker 7000 CD with a turning length of 3.2 metres, with a twisting and milling system second to none. With removing some of the machine I have turned columns finishing at 490 mm in diameter, and 3 metres long.

Most of my work these days is centred around doing specials, whether it be reproducing existing turnings or working on new projects. However, I do have my regular customers who have fairly standard items.

I am just about to launch my own collection of stair components, four poster bed legs, curtain poles with finials, brackets and rings. These will be primarily in oak, but obviously I will supply them in any timber you may specify.

I started my wood turning business in 1992 after spending 4 years doing my apprenticeship as a hobby turner in my shed at the bottom of the garden.

My Business as evolved over the years, I first started trading as Tom's Turning Point. In 1997 I took on a partner and formed Admiral Woodturning Ltd employing 4 people, also working for Hapfo Pollards demonstrating their copy lathes, from the AP 5000 up to their CNC range

In 1998 I went to work for Richard Burbidge to help establish the Designer range.

Then in 2000 I was approached by WEMA to work along side there team to help with the sales of the new Joker range of copy lathes, with responsibily of setting up new machines and training the operators. This has taken me all over the world meeting some wonderful people.

At the same time re-establishing my own woodturning business.

Sinse restarting my business, all my work has been comissioned, but I am about to launch my own range of stair componets and curtain poles, finials and rings.
